The Power of Pomegranates

On a recent visit to Latvia I made a point of visiting the Unesco designated market halls. The produce was fantastically fresh and the utterly luscious pomegranates really caught my eye. 

 

Pomegranates are one of my favourite fruits, and are said to have many properties - low in calories and fat but high in fiber, vitamins and minerals, the benefits of Pomegranates include that they contain antioxidants and can support heart health, urinary health, exercise endurance and more. 

 

I put fresh pomegranate seeds in salads, take a pomegranate supplement daily (urolithin) and a shot of pomegranate juice with my creatine before exercising. 

 

Fun fact: in Jewish tradition the seeds of the pomegranates represent mitzvas or good deeds.
