Alison By Arrangement

On Business

For those of you who haven’t seen my Instagram travel posts and blogs, I’ve recently been talking about low cost travel opportunities. Another way to travel almost for free is with the BA On Business scheme. If you have a company or business and are VAT registered, did you know that you can claim On Business points alongside Avios (ie. you can claim both simultaneously), and as with Avios, redeem the On Business points for flights. With the On Business scheme you pay just the airport tax, which is slightly different to the BA flight reward scheme. You also don’t need many points to fly – for example, a return flight to New York is 9000 On Business points.

This year alone I have booked flights to Latvia, Corsica, Istanbul, Sofia, Slovenia, Nice and Romania, all for £1 return… and I’m about to use those On Business points on another trip.

Dubai Balls

If you are wondering what all the fuss is about with Dubai Chocolate, so was I! So I bought some (I went for the Lindt version which is a whopping £10 for 100g, but Lidl does a £3.99 version, limited to one bar per customer). I have to say, it was utterly delicious – absolutely meriting the hype for once. A creamy soft pistachio filling with a delicious ‘kit kat’ like crunch to it, encased in chocolate.

However, as you also know, I like to eat healthily wherever possible, so I went into my laboratory, otherwise known as my kitchen, and made countless versions until I cracked the taste but with a healthy twist. I’m particularly proud of this as the taste is indistinguishable from the super sugary version, and that’s not me saying it - all my loyal testers agree. My version is also a darn sight cheaper… So in the spirit of sharing, here’s my recipe.

Don’t say I don’t love you. Oh and by the way, we’ll be producing these commercially soon so you’ll be able to gift them too.

And last but by no means least, I always think April is a bit of a wake-up month. Not only are you probably struggling a bit with those New Year Resolutions, now a dim distant moment of uncontrolled and possibly unrealistic enthusiasm, but the arrival of sunshine has probably also made you even more conscious of summer and that dreaded bare skin.

But here’s the good news. It is never, and I mean NEVER too late to start making a change and seeing the difference you want. I took up weight training at 57, and at the same time changed how I ate, and in the process lost over 25kgs and completely changed the way I look and feel, but in a healthy sustainable way.
