Sesame Bars

75g/3oz sunflower margarine

175g/ 6oz plain flour

75g/3oz Gruyere Cheese, grated

1 large egg, beaten

2 tbsp sesame seeds

 

METHOD

  • Preheat oven 190C/375F/Gas5. Grease a baking sheet.
  • Beat together the margarine, flour, cheese and half of the egg. Knead lightly and roll out thinly. Using a sharp knife cut into bars approx 7cm x 4cm (2 ¾ x1 ½ in).
  • Mark the tops with a criss- cross pattern using the back of a knife. Brush with remaining egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 12-15min until golden in colour. Cool.
