Cheesy Bars
75g/3oz sunflower margarine
175g/6oz plain flour
75g/3oz Edam cheese, finely grated
1 egg, separated
4 tbsp Parmesan, grated
4 tbsp ground almonds
Filling
25g/1oz sunflower margarine
1 tbsp plain flour
150ml/ ¼ pint milk
½ tsp grain mustard seasoning
METHOD
- Preheat oven 190C/375F/Gas5
- Beat the margarine, flour, Edam cheese and egg yolk. Knead and then roll out thinly, cut into bars- approx 20.
- Cut out 10 of the centres with a diamond or square shaped cutter, these will be the tops.
- Mix Parmesan and almond. Brush the tops with egg white sprinkle with almond mixture.
- Bake all the biscuits for 10min or until golden. Cool on a wire rack
- Filling
- Melt the margarine add flour and cook for 1min. Slowly add the milk and boil until thick.
- Add the mustard and seasoning and cool. Use to sandwich the bars.
